

When she is dying, she insults Cole stating it to be impossible for anyone to ever wanna have sex with Cole which caused the blood in the ritual to be tainted. She showed no remorse for Cole and only wanted to complete the ritual to obtain what she really wanted. Throughout the rest of the movie, Melanie, Jimmy, Diego, and the original cult members except Bee pursue Cole to kill and get his blood to finally complete the cult showing who she was using Cole for years for this moment. However, her motives are revealed to be entirely fake as she reveals her true nature revealing she had signed the same blood deal with the devil that Bee and the original cult had been a part of and reveals her shallow motive to betray someone who was in love with her, she simply wanted to increase her online following. The two later share another kiss during a makeout game on a boathouse at the lake where it appears Melanie and Cole still share repressed feelings for each other. The pair still share conversations and Melanie even reassures Cole about how everyone takes some kind of medicine and that it is normal to not be normal. Melanie and Cole still maintain their relationship and despite the build-up in the first film, Cole and Melanie are only friends with Melanie dating a jock named Jimmy. In the sequel, two years later, Melanie initially appears to think of Cole the same way but is shown to disregard his cries from the night he was hunted down and nearly murdered several times. When Cole and Melanie shared a romantic moment that finally helped Cole stand up and decide to end Bee once and for all.

She later shared her first kiss with him when they were hiding in her house from Bee. In the original film, Melanie was Cole Johnson's best friend and one of the only if any to not pick on him at any chance and was often seen showing signs of liking Cole despite his unpopularity and dorky appearance.
